DISTANCE CONTROLThe Monty Move
This is a great way to keep the putter face square at all times through the putting stroke. We call it the Monty Move because back when Colin Montgomery was putting well and leading the order of merit for seven years he performed this move naturally.
The Monty Move occurs when you hinge your right elbow after impact but while maintaining the wrist angle created by the forward press. It takes a little practice but when you learn to keep the putter square and in contact with the ball down your eye line you can begin to precisely control the speed of a rolling ball.
When performed correctly the Monty Move is very compact and efficient. It allows you to easily follow the ball down your eye line and makes consistent distance control achievable.
